The Venue Lockhaven Farm
Steven and I were married at Lockhaven Farm in Galivants Ferry, South Carolina. My parents purchased the 50-acre farm in 1994 and it was my dream to be married there.
Months of renovations went into preparing the former horse barn into a dream wedding venue.
Steven and my dad spent countless hours together making the dream come true.
Wedding Theme Southern, classic style with an emphasis not only celebrating our big day but also our friends and families who have supported us through the years.
Inspiration My inspiration for the wedding was the amazing transformation the venue underwent to create a new, yet timeless feel. It was an indescribable feeling witnessing the rebirth made possible by Steven and my dad.
Palette Blush, ivory, gold
As a wedding calligrapher, I knew exactly how I wanted to decorate the venue and set the tone for our wedding day. I incorporated the colors: blush, ivory and gold. The green and yellow of the lemons, limes and rosemary complemented the neutral tone exactly how I imagined.
Perfect peonies were arranged for my bouquet. I’ve never seen flowers more beautiful. My bouquet is in every picture; I never wanted to put down my flowers!
Special Moments Steven and I felt strongly that we didn’t want to see each other before the wedding. Seeing his reaction as I walked down the aisle is my favorite memory. (I’d never seen Steven cry until our Wedding Day)
I always thought I would wave and smile to guests as I walked down the aisle, but when I laid eyes on Steven, he was all I could see.
My dad and I won the crowd with the surprise of the evening! We swayed to Forever Young before busting moves to Uptown Funk! Dad and I kept it secret while attending dance lessons for a month. The experience is absolutely unforgettable.
The Dress Beryl by David Tutera for Mon Cheri
Before I went shopping, I knew I wanted a mermaid style dress.
After shopping at a few places, I still hadn’t found my dress.
Finally, my best friend and I drove to Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina where we found my gown.
The shop only carried the dress in sea mist/ivory. Other colors weren’t in stock.
Still, she and I knew the dress would be mine the minute we saw it.
Advice for Brides-to-Be The wedding day, and the week leading up to it, is a complete whirlwind. My biggest advice would be to relax and enjoy every moment. It is so rare as we get older that we have the ones who we love and who love us most in the same place at the same time. Enjoy being together!
